Opening Manager
"I completely forgot about the Dr. Pepper lake I left out front, so with mop in hand, I charged like a knight with a squeegee, only to be met with the opening crew's bewildered stares as they walked into the store. There I stood shirtless, pants drenched with DP, hair, face, and body caked with shredded lettuce. There was a moment of sheer bewilderment. Me looking at them defeated and completely exasperated, them looking at me with questioning, disgusted looks of confusion and disbelief. Then the silence was broken by a shriek and someone pointing behind me yelling “Fire!”."
Prom Night
"The dance hall felt like a swirling vortex of flashing lights and thumping music. Within ten minutes my date, Debbie, vanished like a magician's disappearing act. ...
It hit me slower than a sloth trying to solve a Rubik's Cube – I'd been bamboozled! ...
At the end of the night, Kurt and I, like ninjas on a mercy mission, deposited passed-out Debbie on her porch, rang the doorbell like maniacs (inspired genius, courtesy of a cheesy movie about a frat house), and sprinted away faster than a cheetah with a rocket strapped to its back."
